Objective of the Role
As a Senior Social Worker in our innovative Front Door Service (CAST), you will play a key role in delivering a person‑centred, strengths‑based service that promotes independence, wellbeing, and high‑quality safeguarding practice. You will support staff, lead on complex cases, and contribute to excellent outcomes for adults and carers in Wandsworth.
About the Role
As a Senior Social Worker in the CAST Front Door Service, you will play a central role in delivering high-quality, person‑centred support to adults and their carers. CAST is a fast-paced, innovative service transforming the way residents access help by focusing on strengths-based practice, early intervention, and collaborative problem solving.
You will act as a leader, specialist practitioner, and role model—supporting both the operational delivery of the service and the professional development of your colleagues. You will provide expert guidance on complex cases, ensuring assessments, support planning, and reviews reflect legislation, best practice, and the Council’s commitment to personalisation.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Leading on complex casework, maintaining high professional standards.
• Acting as a Safeguarding Adults Manager (SAM).
• Supervising Social Workers and Social Care Assessors.
• Supporting First Contact Team rota delivery.
• Managing budget‑related decisions in support planning.
• Promoting independence and personalised approaches and work collaboratively with partners across sectors.
Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Qualifications:
- Degree in Social Work (or equivalent)
- SWE registered
Knowledge:
- Comprehensive knowledge of Social Work Professional Standards as well as relevant legislation, national guidance, and frameworks in providing an adult social care service.
- A sound understanding of the local authority’s statutory responsibility to safeguard vulnerable adults
- A comprehensive understanding of strengths-based social care.
Experience:
- Substantial post-qualification experience of working in a statutory social care or health setting as a qualified Social Worker.
