Mind in Brent, Wandsworth and Westminster is the lead provider for Wandsworth Community Peer Support Service which is run in partnership with South West London & St George’s Mental Health Trust as part of the Transformation program. We are working with partners from the voluntary sector in Wandsworth to support people with SMI (severe mental illness) to maintain and improve their mental health and wellbeing through Peer Support. Our partners are: Wandsworth Carers Network, Together for Mental Wellbeing, Sound Minds and Mushkil Aasaan.
The role of Peer Support Manager is to oversee the service and work towards the service outcomes and KPIs; to support the partnership with SWLSGT and the community partners; to lead the development and delivery of the peer support sessions with service users, and developing a strong, positive relationship with all partners and wider stakeholders in Wandsworth.
The Service Manager will support the other Wandsworth Peer Support Service staff to deliver the services, develop different peer support models, identify and access relevant training and support and ensure that all reporting, monitoring, and evaluation is collected and collated.
You will be experienced in leading a small team and working with a wide range of partners and in a multi-agency setting. You’ll be a confident communicator and able to manage varied workstreams. You will have professional and personal lived experience of mental health issues and be passionate about mental health, having a good understanding of some of the challenges experienced by people with mental health issues.
You will join a friendly, dedicated team that works hard to support people with mental health issues in their own community, and you will have access to training and support.

Based at: |
Tooting Hub, SW17 and other local bases in and around the borough. The role requires frequent working and attendance at Community Mental Health Multi-Disciplinary Team (CMHMDT) and delivery team meetings, held either virtually or in person as required. |
Aims of the role:
- Ensure the Peer Support Service is managed and delivered in line with contractual arrangements, including line management of staff.
- Develop and deliver Peer Support services to people with severe or enduring mental health conditions, drawing on your own lived experience of mental health issues.
- Oversee triage and support staff with safeguarding and risk.
- Building positive and strong relationships with partners across the borough of Wandsworth
- Monitor the service and ensure regular reporting and evaluation takes place.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Service Delivery:
- Manage the Peer Support Service, working closely with SWLSG, all partners and Wandsworth Peer Support Staff.
- Line-manage the Mind in BWW Peer Support Service staff and any other partner staff as part of matrix management, as required and agreed, providing regular supervision and support.
- Support the development and delivery of peer support and lead activities as agreed, drawing on your own lived experience of mental health issues.
- Act as key contact for the wider peer support team and SWLSGT for clients and new referrals to the Peer Support Service and as part of the wider peer support network team and give information and feedback on Mind in BWW’s delivery of peer support.
- Support staff to assess new referrals and work with service users to identify their goals and plan their support needs and identify others that may be involved in achieving their goals.
- Provide support for complex cases, and manage safeguarding concerns and risk, using a person centred approach
- Be responsible for monitoring and evaluation, ensuring the team can seek feedback and continually improve the service
- Work with external partners to create pathways into the health and wellbeing system to support service users to connect into community resources to reduce isolation and improve wellbeing.
- Manage and prioritise your own caseload, in accordance with the needs and priorities of the patient, and any urgent support required.
- Work with Lived Experience volunteers, to support the delivery of peer support groups.
Build Professional Relationships
- Be Mind in BWW’s lead in the matrix management model of support for the CMHT wider peer support team.
- Build relationships with key staff in the wider Integrated Delivery Hub to include CMHT specialists, Mental Health Workers and GP’s Service monitoring.
- Work with the Integrated Hubs Service Manager to develop and implement monitoring processes the Peer Support Service.
- Seek and collate regular feedback about the quality of service and impact of the peer support programme, working with Integrated Hubs Service Manager to compile reports about the quality of service and impact of the peer support programme.
- Support the wider Peer Support Team to encourage people, their families and carers to provide feedback and to share their stories about the impact of peer support on their lives.
Other Activities
- Attend staff meetings and regular line management, team and supervision meetings.
- Attend clinical supervision provided to support your own mental wellbeing and ability to manage complex caseloads.
- To promote a positive image of mental health and combat stigma, and to contribute to a service that is non-judgemental and respects individuals’ rights to confidentiality.
- To handle all queries and work-related activities in a professional and courteous manner, promoting Mind in BWW in a positive manner
- Work within Mind in BWW’s policies including Equality, Inclusion and Diversity, Health & Safety, Safeguarding, Confidentiality and General Data Protection Regulations.
- Participate in learning and development opportunities and take responsibility to identify your own learning needs.
- Be willing to occasionally work outside of your normal working hours.
- To be able to work remotely, as well as travel around the borough to attend meetings.
