Richmond and Wandsworth Adult Social Services are looking for an experienced qualified Social Worker within the Teddington and Twickenham Locality Team.
The team consists of 14 Social Workers, 4 Social Care Assessors, 2 Senior Social Workers and 2 Assistant Service Managers, with 1 Service Manager. We are co-located with the local District Nurses and Community Matrons in our 2 bases in Teddington and Whitton.

What You’ll Be Doing
As a Social Worker in this team, you will:
- Carry out holistic assessments of individuals and carers, identifying needs, risks and opportunities for independence.
- Work collaboratively with residents, families and partners using a strengths‑based, person‑centred approach.
- Apply social work principles, professional curiosity and anti‑discriminatory practice throughout your work.
- Support residents to maximise independence, promote wellbeing and prevent harm.
What We’re Looking For
You’ll bring:
- A recognised Social Work qualification and Social Work England registration.
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and local authority duties, particularly around safeguarding.
- Excellent communication, decision‑making and time‑management skills.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- A recognised Social Work qualification (e.g. Degree in Social Work, DipSW, CQSW or equivalent) and current registration with Social Work England.
- Demonstrable post-qualification experience working within Adult Social Care, including undertaking assessments, care planning and reviews.
- Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and best practice, including the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act, safeguarding frameworks and local authority responsibilities.
- Proven ability to carry out strengths-based, person-centred assessments and manage complex cases, including risk assessment and safeguarding enquiries.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with individuals, families, carers and multi-disciplinary partners.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage a varied caseload, prioritise effectively and make defensible decisions in a fast-paced environment.
